    art inspired by others.

Art in this section consists of compositions arranged by other artists. They may be works that I copied in order to learn a technique, or they may be work that I painted in classes that I have taken. No matter what their origin, it is an established method of learning in many cultures to copy paintings of the masters or to work with an established artist in order to learn technique.

    Original Paintings

    Postcard Size 4x6"

With these tiny paintings, I give you a glimpse into my daily life as an artist. I often create these postcard-sized  paintings, as I experiment with composition, new techniques, and different pigments and papers. Some are painted en plein aire to capture natural colors and the ambiance of the scene, others are composed of elements from photos. The process of translating an idea or vision into a painting entails steps including the creation of several sketches, both with graphite pencil and color. Some of these cards, such as the netsuke collection, were taken from daily sketches which were done solely for the joy of drawing.

You will receive each painting with a mat which fits an 8 X 10 “ frame, or they can be presented without a mat in a 4 X 6 “ frame.

    greeting cards.

    about

    about.

I have been an artist, a teacher, and a foodie as long as I can remember. These three strands of my journey have taken me to teaching art in a Maximum Security Prison, to lecturing on Design in ChiFeng, Inner Mongolia, and to winning a trip to Tahiti with my Mt. Tamalpais Pie, a chocolate French pastry sculpted to look like Mt. Tamalpias. I studied with Rudolph Schaeffer, David Hardy, and David J Rogers as well interacting with many other artists, designers, and chefs during my life.
